What is a centrifugal pump?

A centrifugal pump moves water (or other liquids) using centrifugal force. Simply put: a rotating impeller throws the water outward, creating pressure and pushing it through the pipe. This technique makes it ideal for situations where you need to pump continuously with a steady flow.

Unlike a piston pump, which works with an up-and-down piston motion, a centrifugal pump is quieter, more compact, and suitable for a wide range of applications. Think irrigation, cooling circuits, or circulating lightly contaminated water. It’s not a powerhouse for thick sludge, but it is a dependable mover for everything that flows cleanly.
